Holidays! They must have been invented by a madman - a
whirlwind of activity; then months of nothing. Christmas is over. I
hope Santa was kind to you. New Year's is coming. Resolutions. I
don't make any, well I do but I make them ahead of time and don't
start New Year's day so it looks like it wasn't a resolution. My last
one lasted until October, so maybe this is just a short break
before I start it again - aqua aerobics. It's good for me and the
pool's heated, though if it's 50 degrees outside the pool, it gets
kind of chilly.
Losing weight. Lost 27 pounds but gained most of it back. It's
on my list, too. Holidays are not a good time to diet.
Selling another novel. High on my list. I've got several ready. I
think they're good; it's just a matter of getting it to the right
person. I need to try harder. Writing is easy; selling is hard work.
World peace. Nah! Out of my hands. Peace of mind. That's
easier, but still tough. Don't sweat the little things.
Get a new band. I'm looking. I love to play but starting my own
band is a lot of work. I would rather join a good band, but I will
consider starting one if I have to.
Become more community active. Nah! Waiting on mandatory
thought revision camps by Obama Khan. History is already being
revised, with the generous help of network television. Since when
did 51 percent of the active voters become a clear mandate to
rewrite the Constitution? Over the years we've added
Ammendments as people or ideas change, but ignoring the words
to interpret the thought behind it is wrong. Words meant a great
deal to the founding fathers. They fought and argued over them.
Nowhere did they write, "We welcome all comers, regardless of
their hatred of our religion, their desire to change the country to
resemble the one they left or their desire to contribute nothing
but receive the benefits of a free society paid for with the blood
of patriots."
How can a political party that so idolizes Kennedy (The
President, not the fat, drunkard who drowned his secretary)
reverse his words - "Ask not what your country can do for you,
but what you can do for your country" - as if we are owed, not
the pursuit of happiness, but happiness itself; not freedom of
religion, but freedom from any and all religion; not freedom of
speech, but freedom to speak only what the 'so-called' liberals
consider acceptable.
